Places I want to visit

If you’ve been to a place on the list, I’d appreciate you telling me where it is. I have heard or read about many places from other websites, discussion boards, and of course, Weird NJ. By doing a lot of reading and a lot of map searching, I’ve been able to figure out where a lot of these places are, but not all. I have a decent bead on most places, but I could always be wrong, so if you know where any of these places are, email me. Anything in bold means I have absolutely no clue where it is, so those are the ones I need the most help with. Bear in mind that the when I say what town, address, or cemetery it is, I may be wrong.

In Cumberland, by Delsea Drive Thru do you mean Delsea Drive-In? If so, its no longer abandoned. They reopened a few years ago. Fun night out though!

Camp Kiamesha is in Stillwater Township off of Mt Benevolence Road on the right side .. I have been there many times. The first cabin “The rape cabin” is where the pyschopath man supposedly kidnapped young girls from the bus stop and raped and murderedthem in an electric chair after the camp was long abandoned. There are several other cabins along the way, theres some old shoes and dolls in one of them (not sure why because it was a boy scout camp..) and it eventually leads out to an overgrown baseball field and lake. A few of the cabins burned down two years ago in fires started by kids. It gets pretty muddy there and isnt all that exciting however when I went there at the end of september, my friends and I were walking down to the “rape cabin” and heard what sounded like combat boots stomping down into the basement. My friend swore he saw someone in the doorway so we booked it out of there, however when we went back the next day during the day there was boot prints on the stairs. Also its been said that you can hear little girls singing nursery rhymes and whispering if you go at night and dont make a sound but I’ve never heard them.

Yes, Earl Ludwig was the Lake’s manager. He lived there with his wife and children when I worked as a lifeguard there in the late 1970′s.
It was sort of creepy water to swim in at the time. We lifeguards gave free swimming lessons to the children who went there. On crowded days, I remember one of us lifeguards had to patrol from a row boat half way out from the beach along with guards on the stand.
We also had to pick up garbage, trim trees and bushes and help sell ice-cream as lifeguards.
The Johnson family loved going and sitting on the opposite side of the lake at “their” picnic table. They had a daughter who one of the lifeguard’s, Mike C., was crazy about. Whenever they would show up at the lake, Mike C. would befriend the Johnson family so he would get invited to eat with them. Every summer he chased the Johnson girl,(Irene) to no avail.
I never liked the dirty looking water and the snakes that swam there. I was glad I never had to rescue anyone since I was afraid of the murky darkness of the lake.
All in all it was a day out in the country for the Totowa/Little Falls company crowd.

I live in Winfield Park, and I know for a fact there really isn’t anything in the woods here. It is a very, very small town, and I know the woods like the back of my hand. There is nothing spooky about these woods, I guess maybe the broken bridges. I figured I’d save you, and anyone else a trip because trust me, there’s nothing here, but if you want, you can easily explore these woods, it is not trespassing, and people walk their dogs down there all the time.

Whoever runs this blog, email me when you get a chance.

no sorry. I cant give directions. I know where it is, but the cops patrol there FREQUENTLY. If I told you, all I’d be doing is greasing the wheels on your trip to jail. I’ve never been there even though I’ve known for years where it is. Not trying to be a kill-joy, just being smart.

i just wanted to let you know that the gravity hill road in jackson is a garuanteed ticket. i have a couple friends that are jackson cops and they have said that other cops will just sit there all night waiting for kids to come try the gravity road thing, so i suggest against doing it. the bamber lake house thing has been demolished or so i have been told by other friends that also do urban exploration. if you ever want to go do exploring in ny and staten isalnd i i have a couple places i can give you locations for that we have checked out.

Have you been to the Linwood animal cemetery. Some very famous show animals are buried there. It is very quaint and some of the statuary is really wonderful. I have pics I can send.

The church your talking about in morris county is in rockaway and is on mt hope road. Its right next to Tilcon a huge mining industry. Easy to find the only problem is I think they have boarded it up.. not sure? Also the grave yard your talking about is on White Tail? Rd in Rockaway Township I beleive. you make a right off of Green Pond road and you should follow that until you get to a gate blocking the rest of the trail. Your in the right place if you lost cell reception and you follow that about 300 yards into the woods and there is a sppooky ass graveyard. If thats not what your talking about there is also an abandoned mine off of richard mine road in Rockaway Township. You’ll get to a strecth without houses and then there is a kind of Gap/ledge thing. walk behind this and there is an abandoned mine.

    Hi,

I am interested if you have visited the mansion in kinnelon (you call it Kinelon), on Boonton Ave, near the Stonebrook Elementary School. My Mom used to live there in the 70s, and I am interested to see pictures. She has some horrific stories of what went on in that house and how it was haunted, my aunt, grandmother and grandfather all have stories to go along with that house too. It pains my mother to talk about it because it brings back the awful memories, but I want to learn more. Please e-mail me if you have any questions or if you want to tell me anything you have found.

    Thank you!!

15/43 Nature Washington Rock Dunelin no

Washington Rock is up in the mountains. You take Washington Avenue across RT 22 and keep driving up the mountain, it will be on that road.

11/30 Cemetery 1883 grave Edison no

I think you are talking about Piscatawaytown, off of Woodbridge Avenue. You take Plainfield Avenue and make a Right onto Woodbridge Avenue. The cemetery will be on your right hand side.

Washington Avenue and Plainfield Avenue are actually one road, a very long road that leads up into the mountains and the opposite end is in Edison and stops at Woodbridge Avenue.

If you still aren’t sure of where these places are, shoot me an email at lvs8500 at gmail dot com.

Devils Foot Print I live right down the street from but it’s not that entertaining but that’s probably because I’m so used to it that it doesn’t phase me.

I saw Kearfott Lake on the places to visit list. My father worked for Kearfott in Little Falls for 35 years and I knew that lake well. It was actually a club for employees on Upper Twin Lake in Haskell. It’s on the south side of Union Ave, just off Rt 287, exit 55. The club was located at the east end of the lake. There was a swimming beach on one side and diving pier on the other. Picnic tables were scattered around the lake and there was a bath house and restrooms. The other end of the lake was Camp Moore, run by the Elks.

The club was open to all employees and their families. There weren’t a lot of amenities, other than the lake. But it was clean, well maintained and the price was right. If I remember, employee membership was free. Family members paid $1 or maybe $2 per season. It was open every day from July 4th through Labor Day.

Kearfott was swallowed by Singer (the sewing machine company) in 1968, but the club remained open. Sometime in the mid 80s management closed the club to save money.
