The final resting spot of Walt Whitman

Walt Whitman is considered by many to be America’s greatest poet . Born in Long Island, he lived in New Orleans, and Washington DC before buying a house in Camden, NJ where he would remain till he passed away in 1892. Whitman is buried in Harleigh cemetery in Camden, and his birthplace is a historical and interprative center

  1. I live a minute or 2 from Walt Whitman’s birth place. It’s amazing how many things are name after the poet. High Schools, a mall, the main strip of road, the bus company etc etc It nice to see a great poet remembered, however it does make me sad because I realize poets are no longer commentated or recognized for their incredibly beautiful work
