This is a water tower located at the campus of Lucent technologies in Holmdel, NJ. It is reminiscent of some of the ways the martian ships have been depicted in covers of the the novel War of the Worlds.

Around Monmouth County, no-one calls it, “Lucent Technologies”. It was, and always will be, “Bell Labs”. The water tower was styled to resemble perhaps the most important of the thousands of inventions produced by the “Labs” – the transistor.
