I just found this blog and obviously I am a bit late since the last reply is 2011. However perhaps you still read these. I am looking for information on the Edgewater Cemetary that you wrote about. My great grandparents are buried there and I cannot find any information on a plot map or who now owns the cemetery. I have a deed to the site from1890 so I know they are there. His name was Pierre Bonnard and he was quite famous in his time as an artist. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I intend to go to the cemetery next week and hope to find more info. Thank you for any help you might be able to give

Wondering if you ever heard of a place called McDonald Lake. It was similar to Pleasureland in North Jersey, but much more rustic. It had picnic areas and a place to swim and a water slide into the water. Any ideas where this was?

MacDonald’s Lake is on Rt 23 south in Wayne. Currently it is owned by a contractor who is making it some kind of indoor sports center. The lake is there. It is across from the Regency Best Western. It was an awesome lake to go to years ago.

10/18 Abandoned Suntan Lake Butler maybe
This was one of the places you wanted to visit. Sorry to tell you that it’s now another shopping center. You would never be able to even figure out where it had been. It’s only parking lots and stores now.

As a local to the Wood-Ridge area, I have been pondering for weeks whether to send you this or not.

“Mr. Basiago has also publicly confirmed that in 1970, in the company of his late father, Raymond F. Basiago, an engineer for The Ralph M. Parsons Company who worked on classified aerospace projects, he met three Martian astronauts at the Curtiss-Wright Aeronautical Company facility in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey while the Martians were there on a liaison mission to Earth and meeting with US defense-technical personnel.”

If you want your established world view rocked, turned upside-down, and inside-out follow this nibblet of information.

How far down the rabbit hole you wish to venture is up to you. Know this…

Time is short before everything changes.

  14. Dear Lost In Jersey,

I am happy that you shut this blog down, and I do want to apologize to you for my comments, and I would love to comment to those people that replied to me, but I don’t want to prolong this ignorant communication. I just want you to know that none of those people have any idea what they are talking about. I happen to be a 65 yr old women that is the Office Manager over 200+ plus employees for one of the major NJ Universities. There is nothing dumb or ignorant about me, but I am so very tired of running across these kind of blogs on the internet when I am doing research. Believe me I do not look for these blogs, I just happen to stumble on them. Most of them I ignore, but some days I am not in the mood to ignore. Every since I was a little girl, I have had to put up with this kind of verbal abuse because I am of a mixed race, so what. I am a human being and all my people are. My ancestors have set back their whole lives and let people attack them and verbally abuse them. My generation is also guilty of the same thing, but we are tired of it. We are normal everyday people working and living our middle class lives just like everyone else. Why is everyone creating blogs about my people? I do not know of anyone in my tribe that is not a normal human being, so I do not understand why or where the curiosity is coming from. The only thing anyone will find if they came into the mountain is normal everyday people going about their lives. I myself have never lived in the mountains, because my ancestors moved into Paterson and Passaic before I was born. I went to school and got my education just like everyone else. I just gave your posters back some of their own medicine, and I did it deliberately just so they could see how we feel when we do stumble on the Ramapough Mountain People blogs, and there are a plenty, and they are nasty and vicious attacks on a people that they do not know. I do not see these blogs about my people as freedom of speech. They are hurtful attacks on people that mind their own business and are not out to hurt anyone, but how much do you think we can take. I have people walk up to me because of my last name and say “Oh your one of those nasty dirty people from the mountains”. How would you like that to happen to you, all because of Blogs? It is really sad that even after my comments I was typically sterotyped as uneducated, and knew nothing about my tribe. I happen to be the Recording Secretary for the Ramapough Nation Tribal Council, and also research our genealogy, and well educated on my Nation and the current functions of my Nation and I just happen to run across these blogs when I am search for all the Ramapough descendants that have moved from the mountain into other areas of the United States. Yes some days I do get angry, but most of the days I just ignore all of you, because it does not matter what we tell you or show you, no one will ever believe the truth or ever really want to know the truth, because if anyone did believe or know the truth there would not be anything for them to blog about. I don’t have a problem with blogging, but when you setup a blog that allow people to attack another group of people with vicious lies, I see something very wrong with this. As I expect, when I attacked back, they could not handle it, so now they know how we feel. So thank you for shutting this blog down.

Currently I am looking to rent the second floor of the house on Union Ave (corner of Van Dam and next to the resturant. I’ve always heard stories about ghosts, lumberjacks and “hooded people” in the woods of that area. Since my daughter is psychic, we went there last night and she walked around the house we are wanting to rent, and felt and saw many spirits. Especially the woods behind the house feel negative energy. Can you tell me anything about that? I’d like to live peacefully and don’t want negative spirits around us.
